Tamang Society of America (TSA) celebrates its 8th Annual Barbeque Picnic at Flushing Corona Park on Sunday, July 18th, 2010. Lately appointed board members, State coordinators and members of youth group were introduced to the mass of people along with some entertaining events like: sack race, musical ball, breaking soccer piñata, frog race etc. Those events included all the ages of people from children to adults. Tug of war: Youth vs. Adult was one of the events which brought both youth and adult together in the field. Raffle and Bingo was another two big events where Dell laptop “Inspiron mini” was first prize and Apple iTouch 8GB was Second prize. Mr. Indra Tamang beat everyone’s luck and won laptop as first prize while Prashant Tamang from Boston was able to win Apple iTouch as second prize. To put an end to the excitement, awards and certificates for “Encourage Your Kids” event were distributed to all those who performed well and those who participated respectively.
Youth Group seemed busy in volunteering with distinctive Red T-Shirts, while adults were busy roasting the marinated chunk of chicken legs and beef loaf. Besides barbequed meat, the picnic was full of different variety of traditional food: goat meat, chicken curry, pulaw (special fried rice), pickle, Shel Roti etc.
TSA would like to express its deepest gratitude to those who supported by joining the event and looks forward to similar support in future.

Encourage Your Kids, event was successfully conducted by Youth Group of TSA which was a two days fun event for kids and youth in order to motivate, encourage and discover their hidden talents. The event covered five major contests: Spelling Bee, Drawing, Chess, Singing and Dancing. Around thirty participants were involved and over hundred audiences were present during the event. President Mr. Bharat Raj Lama begun with his welcome speech and expressed his excitement toward what youth group had to present.

Everyone seemed to be pleased by the participants’ performance. Spelling Bee contest attracted everyone's attention and almost created debate over the guidelines explanation. However, the Judges took control over the situation by making instant changes to the rule and providing participants with one more chance during the first round, which made the contest fair and debate-less at the end.

Similarly, participants seemed happy taking part in the drawing contest, which in-fact had the most participants. Judges for the Singing and Music category: Famous Vocalist and Guitarist, Mr. Phiroj Sangden; famous singer, Mr. Sanjog Lama and Former Guitarist of Samsara Band, Mr. Pawan Moktan, performed a beautiful song to entertain the entire mass of contestants and audiences. Beautiful artwork of the participants will be displayed during the summer BBQ event at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, on Sunday, 18th of July, 2010. Besides, all the participants will be encouraged by certificates and the winners will be awarded with Trophy or Medal.

Youth Group of TSA expresses their gratitude toward all the Judges, Board Members of TSA, Advisors, Coordinators, Team Members, Supporters, Participants and their parents for their invaluable time and effort in making this event a successful one. And special thanks to Shangri-La Restaurant and Thakali Kitchen for providing their space.

TSA successfully celebrated Buddha Jayanti wishing everyone a very happy, prosperous and peaceful life for all living creatures.

General Convention of Tamang Society of America (TSA) has taken place on dated of April 18, 2010 at Jackson heights queens New York USA. Mr. Bharat Tamang and Mr. Sange Lama has been nominated as President and vice president to serve a two-year-term (2010-2012) for Tamang Society of America. Nominated Prestigious nine board-members include Mr. Lakyan Lama as General secretary, Mrs. Ramala (Tresururer), Mrs. Maya Lama (secretary), continueing board members Binod tamang, Furba Tamang and newly nominated members Mrs. Kamala Lopchan, Mrs. Sapana Lama, Karma Lama and Lalman Lama. Two board members shall be appointed by the President. I am deeply honored to have been nominated to be President of Tamang Society of America, and i will be fully dedicated to serve the community to bring social change through education, co-ordinate with other social organization, Said Mr. Bharat Tamang. Since he has been serving as vice president for the last two years, he promises to try his best with his full efforts and courage to make tamang society of America (TSA), financially strong within his next two years service term as President. It has been a special experience and everyone else is welcomed to support our mission and vision of organization, he stated.

अप्रिल २०, न्यूयोर्क - तामाङ सोसाईटी अफ अमेरिकाको पाचौं साधारण सभा सम्पन्न भएको छ । न्युयोर्क क्वीन्समा अप्रिल १८, २०१० मा सम्पन्न उक्त साधारण सभाबाट भरतराज लामाको अध्यक्षतामा दुई वर्षको लागि नयाँ कार्यसमिति चयन गरिएको छ । नवनिर्वाचित कार्यसमितिमा भरतराज लामा - अध्यक्ष, साङ्गे लामा -उपाध्यक्ष, लक्यान लामा -महासचिव, माया लामा (शेर्पा) - सचिव र रमला लामा - कोषाध्यक्ष रहेका छन् । त्यस्तै सदस्यहरुमा फुर्व घिसिङ, कमला लोप्चन, सपना तामाङ, विनोद तामाङ, कर्म लामा र लालमन तामाङ रहेका छन् । अन्य सबै सदस्यहरु सर्वसहमतिबाट चयन गरिए पनि उपाध्यक्षको लागि दुईजनाको नाम मनोनयनमा परेकोले मतदानबाट केशव मोक्तानलाई पराजित गर्दै साङ्गे लामा निर्वाचित भएका हुन् । विधान बमोजिम दुई जना सदस्य भने पछि अध्यक्षले मनोनित गर्ने व्यवस्था छ । नयाँ कार्य समिति चयन गर्न गठित निर्वाचन समितिमा वंशलाल तामाङ, राम तामाङ, केशव ग्लान र मानर्थ सदस्य कलाकार अमृत लामा हुनुहुन्थ्यो उक्त साधारण सभामा संस्थाको आर्थिक तथा प्रगति विवरण प्रस्तुत गरी पारित गर्नुका साथै सल्लाहकार केशव ग्लानद्धारा प्रस्तुत विधान संसोधन प्रस्ताव समेत पारित गरेको छ । नव निर्वाचित अध्यक्ष भरतराज लामाले सदस्यहरु समक्ष आफ्नो कार्य योजना प्रस्तुत गर्नुभएको थियो । त्यस्तै नयाँ कार्य समितिले अमेरिकाको विभिन्न राज्य (State) हरुमा संस्थाको संयोजक (Coordinator) नियुक्त गर्ने निर्णय गरेको छ । साधारण सभाको पहिलो चरणको कार्यक्रममा तामाङ सोसाईटी अफ अमेरिकाका ज्येष्ठ सदस्य सुकुमाया तामाङले संस्थाद्धारा प्रकाशित ‘नाङसल’ पत्रिकाको विमोचन गर्नुभएको थियो भने अध्यक्ष ईन्द्र तमाङबाट डम्फु साँझ २०१० को डिभिडी विमोचन गर्नुभएको थियो । त्यसै गरी संस्थालाई स्थापनाकालदेखि नै निरन्तर सहयोग गर्दै आउनुभएका संस्थाका सदस्य रमला रिचेन तामाङलाई “Outstanding Contribution for TSA Awards 2010” बाट सम्मानित गरिएको थियो भने 1974 AD का पूर्व व्यान्ड मेम्बर, गितारिष्ट एवं चर्चित पप गायक फिरोज स्याङदेनलाई मानार्थ सदस्यता प्रदान गरी सम्मानित गरिएको थियो । सम्मानित व्यक्तित्वको तर्फबाट मन्तव्य राख्नुहुँदै रमला तामाङले तामाङ सोसाईटी अफ अमेरिका (TSA) बाट के पायो भन्दा पनि TSA लाई के दियो भन्ने सोँच सबैमा हुनुपर्ने धारणा राख्नसाथ हलमा उपस्थित सबैले ताली बजाएर समर्थन प्रकट गरेका थिए । अर्का सम्मानित व्यक्तित्व फिरोज स्याङदेनले पनि TSA लाई आगामी दिनहरुमा आर्थिक रुपमा नभए पनि सांगितिक एवं नैतिक रुपमा पूर्ण रुपमा सहयोग गर्ने वचन दिँदै मानार्थ सदस्यको महतोलाई जहिले पनि आत्मासाथ गरि राख्ने बाचा गर्नुभएको थियो । सोही क्रममा संस्थापक अध्यक्षबाट संस्था गठनको बारेमा मन्तव्य राख्नुभएको थियो भने संस्थाद्धारा प्रकाशित नाङसल पत्रिकाको बारेमा पूर्व अध्यक्ष राम तमाङले जानकारी दिनुभएको थियो । मन्तव्यकै क्रममा सल्लाहकार वंशलाल तामाङले संस्थाको गति कम भएको गुणासो राख्नुहुँदै आगामी दिनमा संस्थाले आफ्ना गतिविधिलाई द्रुत गतिमा अगाडि बढाउनुपर्ने र त्यसका लागि जस्तो सुकै सहयोग गर्न तयार रहेको बताउनुभयो । त्यसै गरी Connecticut संयोजक जोनी योन्जन र बोस्टन संयोजक प्रेम तामाङले समेत संस्थाको प्रगतिको बारेमा प्रकाश पार्नुभएको थियो । नाङसल प्रकाशनको संयोजकको हैसियतमा महासचिवले मन्तव्य राख्नुभएको थियो । अध्यक्ष ईन्द्र तमाङले आफ्नो कार्यकालमा सहयोग गर्ने सबैलाई धन्यवाद दिनुका साथै बन्द सत्रबाट आउने नयाँ कार्यसमितिका सदस्यहरुलाई स्वागत एवं निरन्तर सहयोग रहने जनाउँदै आफ्नो कार्यसमिति भंग भएको घोषणा गर्नुभएको थियो । पहिलो चरणको कार्यक्रमको सञ्चालन सचिव लक्यान लामाले गर्नुभएको थियो । अमेरिकामा रहेका तामाङहरुको उल्लेख्य उपस्थिति रहेको उक्त साधारणसभाको दोस्रो चरणको कार्यक्रम बन्द सत्रबाट आगामी दुई वर्षका लागि नयाँ कार्य समिति चयन गरी नयाँ निर्वाचित कार्यसमितिलाई बधाई दिँदै सम्पन्न भएको थियो. न्युज सोर्स तामङ्समाज बाट लिएको हो ।
